The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School is excited to welcome back acclaimed author Nancy Singleton Hachisu for an intimate hands-on “Chicken and Noodles” cooking class. You will make your own handmade Udon noodles using flour from Nancy’s husband’s farm and we will dispatch some of our farm raised birds in the class to prepare the following Japanese farmhouse menu.

Simmered Daikon with Sweet Miso

Celery Kinpira

Potato Salad with Black Sesame

Sesame-Dressed Greens and Carrots

Kabocha with Smashed Yamaki Tofu

Sweet Vinegared Turnips and Persimmons

Miso Chicken Soup with Homemade Udon Noodles  

Japanese Carrot Cake with Sweetened Yogurt Cream


Widely respected as an authority on Japanese food, Nancy has lived in Japan for the past 30 years. She married a local farmer and raised her family of three sons in their traditional farm house. Nancy has published three books including “Japanese Farm Food”, “Preserving the Japanese Way” and most recently, “Japan the Cookbook”. 


Come and spend the day harvesting and cooking with this legend of Japanese food.
